International Girls in ICT Day

Did you know that women represent only 29.2% of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) workforce ? The World Economic Forum's data paints a stark picture: at the current rate, closing the gender gap will take generations. With women still significantly underrepresented in core STEM fields, particularly in areas like software development and engineering (less than 25% globally), what urgent and impactful actions can we take to accelerate change? That's why it's so important to celebrate International Girls in ICT Day! This global initiative, led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), is all about inspiring and encouraging girls and young women to pursue studies and careers in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Since 2011, millions of girls from over 170 countries have participated in workshops, hackathons, and networking events.   Host an Online blogging competition for girl and young women. Blogging provides a powerful platform for showcasing and enhancing knowledge and skills in technology, while simultaneously improve Girls and Young Women writing and communication abilities.

Online robotics workshops provide girls and young women with a exciting opportunity to explore how technology can help them ''build the future' by organizing such workshops, you facilitate the learning of fundamental robotics programming skills, empowering participants to perform tasks such as controlling movements; programming LED displays and much more.  

  Creating a supportive and equitable environment is key to unlocking opportunities and fostering growth. Encourage more girls and young women to pursue ICT careers,  Teach and Showcase emerging technologies,  Inspire girls to explore ICT professions aligned with their interests,  Highlight the importance of inclusion an equity in the digital ecosystem;
